Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has released Advertisement No. 08/25 to recruit 379 Sports Trainers under Bihar Subordinate Sports Service, with online applications invited at the official website. Registration starts on 09.10.2025 and the last date to submit the online application is 11.11.2025, while fee payment can be made up to 09.11.2025.   • UR: 152 (women 53)​

  • SC: 61 (women 21)​

  • ST: 4 (women 1)​

  • EBC: 68 (women 24); PWBD seats within category: VI-04, DD-04, OH-04, MD/MUD-03​

  • BC: 45 (women 16), Freedom Fighter dependents: 08​

  • BC (Women): 11​

  • EWS: 38 (women 13)​

Note: 35% horizontal reservation applies to women of Bihar domicile; 4% horizontal reservation applies to PWBD as per rules; vacancies are provisional and may increase/decrease.

Pay level

  • Sports Trainer: Pay Level-6 as per Bihar norms​

Eligibility

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University​

  • Technical qualification: Diploma in Sports Coaching from NIS (SAI) in the relevant sport OR PG Diploma in Sports Coaching (PGDSC) from LNIPE Gwalior/Central University of Sports OR equivalent from a UGC-recognized Sports University/Bihar University​

  • Sports achievements: Any one—represented India in a recognized international event; represented state in national/international championships; participated in Olympic/Commonwealth/Asian/World/Asian Championships or other recognized annual championships; participated at least two times in AIU/recognized junior/national championships; or three times in Inter-Services/All India Police/Inter-Railway championships​

Age limit (as on 01.08.2025)

  • Minimum: 21 years (all categories)​

  • Maximum: UR (Male) 37; UR (Female) 40; BC/EBC (Male/Female) 40; SC/ST (Male/Female) 42; PWBD: 10 years relaxation over category maxima, with other statutory relaxations as per rules​

Selection process

  • Written exam (Objective, 150 marks) + Interview (50 marks) = 200 marks​

  • Paper includes: General Knowledge (30 Q/30 M), Allied Science in Sports (60 Q/60 M), Main Sports (60 Q/60 M)​

  • Medium: Hindi/English; in case of discrepancy, English version prevails​

  • If applications exceed 40,000, a Preliminary exam may be conducted and could be held in multiple phases with normalization; Main exam notification will be issued separately

Qualifying marks

  • UR: 40%​

  • BC: 36.5%​

  • EBC: 34%​

  • SC/ST: 32%​

  • Women: 32%​

  • PWBD: 32%​

Application fee

  • Examination fee: Rs. 100/- per candidate; processing charges and applicable taxes extra; pay online via Credit/Debit Card, UPI, Net Banking from 09.10.2025 to 09.11.2025; fee is non-refundable and non-transferable​

How to apply

  • Apply online only at the BSSC website; one application per candidate; use active mobile number and email; upload clear live webcam photo and scanned Hindi/English signatures; keep Application/Registration/Roll numbers safe​

  • Before final submit, use Preview and correct via Edit if needed; no corrections entertained after submission​

  • Keep original documents ready for verification as per entries made in the form; only certificates existing up to the last date are valid​

Documents checklist (to be entered/uploaded as required)

  • Matric marksheet and certificate; Graduation marksheets and degree​

  • NIS Diploma/PGDSC or equivalent sports coaching qualification certificates​

  • Sports achievement certificates as per acceptable events/repetitions​

  • Domicile/residential certificate; Caste/Non-Creamy layer/EWS certificate as applicable​

  • PWBD certificate (from Govt Medical College/Hospital as per process); claim documents for age relaxations (Govt servant/Ex-Serviceman)​

Reservation notes

  • Benefits only as per valid certificates and Bihar domicile where applicable; EWS as per prescribed format and validity; Freedom Fighter dependents require DM-authorized certificate in prescribed form; Transgender categorized under BC reservation per notification​

Exam mode and integrity

  • Exam may be conducted Online CBT/Offline; biometric thumb/iris may be captured to prevent impersonation; candidates debarred by UPSC/State PSC/other commissions for malpractice are ineligible during ban period​
